Culinary Transformative Immersion in Cambodia – NOV 2023 – MARCH 2024
Cook your life to savor each moment
Welcome to the Culinary Transformative Immersion, nestled amidst the paddy fields in Cambodian countryside and in the proximity to the ancient Angkor Wat Temples . The serenity and history of one of the world’s most awe-inspiring archaeological sites, will inspire your practice of mindful cooking and inner journey during your week.
Asian traditions provides us with a profound understanding of our world and our place within it. The system of the five phases or 5 elements of nature -earth, water, fire, air and space – is at the core of the Asian Philosophies of living, providing insights for balancing the physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual dimensions on us. The five phases system permeates all aspects of life including food and cooking.
Under this view, our bodies are constituted by these elements and can be balanced out through food, the way we cook and how we engage in the culinary affairs. These elements of nature connect with us through the flavors – salty, sweet, bitter, sour, pungent, and astringent-, creating a unique, holistic interplay that feeds both the body and the mind; expressing themselves the nature’s quintessence.
Sacred Space for Transformation
Our kitchen at the Culinary Transformation Immersion is not simply a place for food preparation. It’s a sacred space, a sanctuary for self-discovery and communion with nature. We revere this space, infusing it with love, respect, and gratitude incorporating the teachings from the philosophies of living from India, Thailand, Korea, China and Japan: Ayurveda, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Macrobiotics, Shojin Ryori and Temple Food all grounded in the mindfulness meditation practice.
Our sacred kitchen resonates with the harmony of the five elements, inviting you to experience their interplay as you cook, taste and savor. As you prepare meals, you connect with the flavors and, in turn, the elements they represent, allowing their essence to shape and balance you.
Through this intimate interaction, the kitchen becomes more than a physical room—it transforms into a consecrated altar where you ‘cook’ yourself, melding the aspects of your being with the elements of nature and guiding you on how to convert your the kitchen in a sacred space for inner growth and your meals in rituals. It is a journey from oneness to wholeness.
Amalgamation of flavours, sound and movement: Just as we can interact with the 5 elements of nature through food, the ancient wisdom of this system can produce a harmonic balance when using sounds to integrate our physical body, our emotions, our psychological state and the subtle energy fields in our body. Likewise, we can incorporate, feel and dance the nature’s five elements when we move our bodies.
Your Transformative Journey
We accompany you on this grand sojourned, fostering an environment ripe for discovery, experience, and personal evolution.
Phase One: Embrace your Oneness. You commence the journey by acknowledging your individuality, your oneness. This initial step is a mirror of introspection, prompting self-reflection where you tune in to your senses and emotions. As you learn to prepare meals, you don’t just connect with the ingredients but also with your innate oneness. Through our specially crafted mindful eating and mindful cooking experiences, food transcends its fundamental purpose of nourishment to become a mirror reflecting your relationship with yourself and the world around you.
Phase Two: Experience the Interplay of the Elements. The subsequent step of the journey invites you to explore the symbiotic relationship of the quintessential elements within and outside us. By interweaving the ancient philosophy of the five flavors, we encourage you to explore how these flavors resonate with the five elements of the earth through a sensory experience. This goes beyond than just the taste of food; it’s about sensing the connections, recognizing the vibrations, and experiencing the balance.
Phase Three: Dance the Elements. Your journey progresses with the celebration of movement, using the NIA technique. By embodying the elementals, you learn to identify the type of movement needed at different moments, thus improving your capacity to listen to your body and nourish it with the right movement in each moment. This is the gate for harmonizing your physical health with your inner being, further solidifying the bond with your wholeness.
Phase Four: Raise your body’s vibration frequency. The next step of your journey introduces you to the healing power of sound, embracing the interaction between sound, body and mind. We guide you through therapeutic sounds, chosen to resonate with specific organs, helping to release blockages, restore balance, and stimulate the body’s natural healing processes.
Phase Five: Emergence into Wholeness. The journey culminates in the realm of holistic unity. With the wisdom and experiences gathered from the previous stages, you begin to perceive the unity in diversity, the wholeness in oneness. This is where you metaphorically ‘cook’ yourself in the sacred space of our kitchen, integrating all aspects of your being—physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual.
Our objective is to be your companion on this journey from oneness to wholeness. Together, we explore, we learn, we grow. And in doing so, we discover that the journey itself is the destination. Join us, and let’s cook a nourishing life recipe together.
