Follow your Bliss

The term “follow your bliss,” was coined by Joseph Campbell, a well-known mythology teacher who saw it as a crucial part of living life to the fullest. In his words:

If you follow your bliss, you put yourself on a kind of track that has been there all the while, waiting for you, and the life that you ought to be living is the one you are living. Wherever you are, if you are following your bliss, you are enjoying that refreshment, that life within you, all the time.

For me, is very similar to the expression “getting into the flow”, which is the mental state in which a person performing an activity is fully immersed in a feeling of energized focus, full involvement, and enjoyment in the process of the activity.

I can tell that the kitchen for me is the place where I can experience these states especially when cutting the vegetables in juliennes.

In this video, I share with you this culinary technique as a daily practice of inner work. What is your cooking practice that helps you to find your bliss?

Remember: Before starting the practice, ground yourself with two or three deep breaths. Then, start feeling the bliss… We are not aiming to be master chefs, we aim to work diligently and to create beauty with the resources at hand.
